Tooth Colored Fillings
Here at Dr. Young’s office we place only tooth colored fillings to restore teeth damaged by tooth decay. Continuing advances with tooth colored or ‘white’ fillings provides the patient and dentist with a safer and more attractive alternative to silver amalgam (mercury) fillings. The removal of old silver fillings can provide patients with a more pleasing esthetic metal-free smile.
Tooth colored fillings are made of composite resin & serve to fill the cavity just like silver fillings however tooth colored fillings are ‘bonded’ (glued) to the underlying tooth structure to create a stronger more predictable restoration. They are placed in increments or layers and then light cured/hardened so when you leave the office the filling is as hard as it can get.
By skillfully matching tooth colored fillings with the natural color of your teeth Dr. Young is able to provide you with white fillings that are virtually invisible.
